Seven people were taken away in handcuffs yesterday at the Texas Capitol while protesting the oil and gas industry. The Protest was led by Sierra Club representative Tane Ward.

The group held a rally outside the Capitol, vocalizing their anti-oil and gas views, before entering the William B. Travis State Building while chanting. After the Texas Department of Public Safety troopers arrived, some protesters left while seven stayed and were taken away in handcuffs after being advised that they would be arrested.

Ward has long peddled outrageous claims while protesting the Texas oil and gas industry. The Sierra Club leader previously accused a pipeline CEO of genocide and claimed that the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission supported fascism:

“Does the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission support fascism? You bet it does.”
