A new report by the Consumer Energy Alliance (CEA) shows that natural gas production has saved Texas consumers nearly $60 billion form 2006 to 2016. Residential consumers accounted for $7.2 billion of savings while commercial and industrial users accounted for $7.2 billion.
Despite efforts of out-of-state environmentalists to hinder natural gas production and infrastructure across the country, Texas continues to lead the nation in oil and gas production and reaps countless benefits from the industry. The same CEA report found that Texas’ natural gas and oil production contributed nearly $3 billion to the budget for fiscal year 2017.
The International Union of Operating Engineers pointed to the importance of oil and natural gas development to the ever-increasing jobs added throughout 2018:
“None would have been made possible without the development of our state’s resources, which has fueled a resurgence, put thousands back to work and reduced energy costs. To keep this going, local, state and federal policymakers must embrace every opportunity we have to show their support for energy.”
