A national environmental group sent an organizer to Texas last week for an anti-pipeline protest that turned destructive. Charles Brown, an organizer for Greenpeace USA, attended the protest of a shareholders meeting for pipeline company Energy Transfer Partners (ETP) in Dallas that included multiple protestors being arrested for disorderly conduct.
It is unclear what role Brown and Greenpeace played in the antics of the unruly activists at the protests. Greenpeace has used tactics described as “eco-terroism” and the Texas Sierra Club, who also supported last week’s protest, has endorsed committing illegal acts as a means of protest.
Following the protest, the Greenpeace representative met with multiple Texas environmental leaders. Attendees included leadership from Texas Sierra Club and Texas Environmental Justice Advocacy Services.
