The Environmentalist Left are now targeting Whataburger for their latest protest. Former Californian Luke Metzger and his group Environment Texas – a part of the national left-wing group Environment America – plan to hold a rally outside the headquarters of the Texas staple in San Antonio today.
Metzger and his group say they are protesting the burger chain because of the environmental impact of the chain’s iconic orange and white styrofoam cups. Metzger stated:
“These cups are making Texas ugly.”
Environmentalists from California and other parts of the country have long targeted Texas to advance their radical agenda. Environment America previously targeted Texas schools, pushing for public universities in Texas to end oil and gas development on university lands, which accounts for over $1 billion of revenue annually for the UT System alone, and is responsible for lower tuition rates for students all across the Lone Star State.
Despite these efforts, Texas crude production is expected to double in five years and U.S. natural gas production is expected to increase 60% in the next two decades, which already has led to a booming economy and job creation in the Lone Star State. While environmentalists wish to impose their radical agenda, Texas continues to enjoy the economic successes of its abundant natural resources, as well as its Whataburger.
