Last weekend, a panelist at an event in Marfa hosted by environmental group Big Bend Conservation Alliance appeared to advocate for attacking and harassing state legislators. David Yates, CEO of Texas Wildlife Association stated:
“Ten phone calls to a state representative’s office can change their vote because too few people take the time to pick up the phone to make that call or write that letter, much less make the trip to Austin to go see their legislator. And if you catch them here at the Piggly Wiggly, grab their arm, twist them, and wag your finger at them. So that’s, to me, how you can get involved”
The group held the event to continue their opposition to the now-completed Trans-Pecos Pipeline in West Texas. Earlier this summer, a federal appeals court panel rejected the group’s petition seeking a more expanded environmental review of the pipeline.
