Earlier this week at a meeting in Wimberley concerning a Kinder Morgan pipeline, Matt Lara, a board member for two Texas environmental groups – the Big Bend Conservation Alliance and the Hill Country Alliance – admitted that there is a need for natural gas pipelines:
“One of the things that I was thinking about is I hear a pipeline referred to a lot as ‘critical infrastructure’ and when I think about that, it definitely is. There is definitely a need to transport natural gas from one point to another. There’s definitely a need to take this flared gas and take it somewhere where it can be shipped off or converted into a different form.”
Texas is currently facing a pipeline shortage, and while many extreme environmental groups are opposing all new pipelines, the Dallas Morning News editorial board recently opined that more pipelines would be environmentally beneficial to the Lone Star State.
