The environmentalist group 350.org is sponsoring the 2019 Women’s March this weekend, despite Women’s March leadership facing accusations of anti-Semitism. 350.org has three local chapters in Texas in Austin, Dallas, and Houston.
350.org choosing to maintain their sponsorship is notable, while many prominent groups including the Democratic National Committee, Southern Poverty Law Center, EMILY’s List, Human Rights Campaign, NARAL, and the Center for American Progress have all withdrawn their sponsorship of the event over the controversy.
Former Democratic National Committee chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz is also refusing to be a part the event. She stated:
“While I still firmly believe in its values and mission, I cannot associate with the national march’s leaders and principles, which refuse to completely repudiate anti-Semitism and all forms of bigotry. I cannot walk shoulder to shoulder with leaders who lock arms with outspoken peddlers of hate.”
